(He/Him)
Corey Wilson, BA (Honors), JD MACP Practicum Student
Corey is a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) practicum student currently completing his training at Orion Wellness Incorporated through Yorkville University. He works with individuals and children aged 11+, supporting clients through a wide range of emotional, relational, and identity-related challenges.
Life can be difficult, filled with unexpected turns and moments of doubt. Finding the courage to change can feel especially hard, requiring inner strength, trust, and the willingness to face fear in pursuit of a more fulfilling path. Corey strives to walk alongside clients during these moments, offering steady support as they explore what growth and healing can look like for them.
Corey provides a person-affirming, compassionate, and nonjudgmental therapeutic space that nurtures self-discovery and authenticity. He believes therapy works best when clients feel safe to be fully themselves—heard, respected, and supported. Through collaboration, Corey helps clients explore their experiences, clarify values, and move toward greater self-awareness, acceptance, and personal empowerment.
Although new to the counselling field, Corey brings a wealth of experience from his previous career in law and non-profit work, where he developed strong communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills. These strengths now inform his thoughtful, grounded approach to therapy, particularly when supporting clients navigating complex emotions, identity concerns, or societal pressures.
Corey integrates evidence-informed approaches including Humanistic / Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Sessions are tailored to each client’s unique needs, goals, and pace.
He supports clients with concerns including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, self-esteem, identity development, LGBTQ-affirming care, life transitions, improving life satisfaction, and coping with societal pressures, discrimination, and identity-related challenges.
“Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties.” — Eric Fromm
Outside of therapy, Corey finds ease in sharing a good laugh with close friends, believing that joy often lives in simple moments of connection. He also loves inline skating and is always on the lookout for freshly paved paths to explore.
✨ Corey is a Master’s-level Counselling Psychology practicum student and practices under the close supervision of experienced, approved supervisors. He also works collaboratively with the Clinic Director, a Master’s-level Social Worker with over 10 years of experience. This layered supervision ensures clients receive thoughtful, well-supported care while keeping therapy accessible and affordable.

Certain clients may feel uncomfortable with the idea of being vulnerable in a therapy session. This might be due to their fear of judgement from the therapist or by being uncertain about the outcome of therapy.
I spend time cultivating a warm, welcoming environment for my client to really begin feeling comfortable in the therapeutic relationship while also working with the client to decide on goals that are attainable and will help them begin seeing progress in their mental health journey.
By using a client centred approach with a strong therapeutic relationship, the client feels better about being vulnerable in session and about taking initiative in achieving their personal goals.
I’m a pre-licensed therapist currently completing my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. In my training so far, I’ve had the opportunity to explore different therapeutic approaches, and what stands out most to me is how important it is to build a safe, trusting relationship with my clients. I believe that connection is at the heart of meaningful change.
Outside of my studies, I’ve volunteered with the Ronald McDonald Family Room, where I supported families who were caring for a sick child. This experience taught me so much about compassion and the power of simply being there for people during some of the hardest moments of their lives. My goal is to bring that same warmth and support into the therapy room so my clients feel understood, cared for, and less alone in what they’re going through.
Client Focus: Individuals (16+) and Couples
Types of therapy: CBT, DBT, SFBT, ACT, IFS
Issues: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Stress, Burnout, Compassion Fatigue, Grief
Something that brings me a sense of ease is cooking! I love cooking and baking for my loved ones. Creating something delicious out of nothing and sharing the result with the people I care about always brings me great joy.
Something fun about me is that I love to travel and experience new places and cultures… but nothing beats coming home and sleeping in my own bed at the end of it.

Often, people feel as though the process of beginning therapy can be a daunting task due to uncertainties and worries. This is a completely normal experience. In my practice, I strive to make therapy feel inviting, supportive, and collaborative from the very first interaction. I aim to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and respected. I am here to answer your questions, address concerns as they arise, and work alongside you at a pace that feels comfortable. Together, we will focus on your goals and ensure your individual needs, values, and experiences are always prioritized.
I am a Registered Social Worker and a University of Manitoba graduate with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work. Over the past 2 years, I have worked at the Program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT), working with individuals with psychotic disorders, depression, anxiety, and trauma. I also have experience providing therapy services to youth and adults with various concerns such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem and relationship difficulties.
Something that brings me a sense of ease is being active as it helps me feel calm and centred. I enjoy doing yoga, fitness classes, skating, hiking, and swimming.
Something fun about me is that I used to work in interior design (but please don’t ask me to pick paint swatches!), I love cooking new recipes with a good playlist on, and I truly believe laughter is great for the soul—so you’ll often find me at comedy shows when I can.

From a systemic view, I believe we all need and want to relate to others. Our connections provide us with safety and security.
